Troven Privacy Policy

Troven ("Troven", "we", "us") is a mobile app that helps you discover movies and TV series, save them, and decide what to watch together with friends. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. By using Troven you agree to this policy.

1. Information we collect

Account & authentication

• Email address and a unique account identifier (UID) when you sign in (e.g. Email/Password, Google, or Play Games).
• Display name and chosen username.
• Authentication provider used to sign in.

Anonymous "guest" sign-in is supported for joining sessions; it does not require an email.

Content you create

• Your taste preferences (favorite genres, favorite titles, onboarding choices).
• Your library: watchlist, watched, and skipped titles, and swipe activity.
• Friend relationships, group watch sessions you create or join, and match results.
• Messages you send in chats, and any bug reports or support requests you submit.

Device & technical data

• A push notification token (Firebase Cloud Messaging) so we can deliver notifications.
• Device and app identifiers, app version, and basic diagnostics.
• Usage analytics and crash data to keep the app stable and improve it.

2. How we use your information

• To provide core features: sign-in, recommendations, library, chat, friends, and group sessions.
• To connect you with friends (via username search and invite links) and to compute group "matches".
• To send notifications you have enabled (messages, session invites).
• To respond to support requests and bug reports.
• To monitor performance, prevent abuse, and improve the app.

3. Third-party services

We rely on the following providers, each governed by their own privacy policies:

• Google Firebase (Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Cloud Functions, Cloud Messaging, Analytics, Hosting) - stores and processes your account and app data.
• The Movie Database (TMDb) - provides movie/series metadata and images. Troven uses TMDb but is not endorsed or certified by TMDb.
• Google AdMob - during testing, ads are limited to non-production test units.

4. Data sharing

We do not sell your personal data. Limited content you choose to share is visible to the people you share it with - for example, your display name, badges, messages, and swipe choices are visible to friends and to participants of group sessions you join. Service providers listed above process data on our behalf to operate the app.

5. Data retention & deletion

We keep your data while your account is active. You can request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by emailing dev.vaderducking@gmail.com. We will delete or anonymize your data within a reasonable period, except where we must retain it to comply with legal obligations.

6. Security

Data is encrypted in transit. Access to backend data is restricted by Firebase Security Rules and server-side functions. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.

7. Children

Troven is not directed to children. You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age of digital consent in your country, e.g. 16 in parts of the EU) to use Troven.

8. Your choices

• You can disable notifications in your device settings.
• You can request access to or deletion of your data (see Section 5).

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will revise the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
